Energy

I love a good wave, nothing like the power of the ocean to stir up lots of emotion.  The oil pastel painting is an 8×10, completed with a soft pastel underpainting washed with alcohol.

The painting is based on an image taken in Northern Ireland by a photographer at pmp.  They’ve got some good rough waters in that part of the world!

Tempestuous, like an opera diva in a velour manteau of colbalt blue.

    • Mary says:

Ah Ariel’s Prospero! Thank you and so happy that that you love the velvety colbalt! Tthe water was such a deep color it was great fun exploring by mixing and blending colors to get a similar effect.

  11. Wonderful! This one could easily have a place in my room. To see every morning when I wake up. Or in our summer house by the sea. I can almost hear the sound of the waves.
