The states of North and South Carolina have some of the most beautiful scenery in the northeast. One of the secrets of these States is that they offer many lakes lush with thick beautiful forests and gorgeous views of distant hills and mountains. That’s what captured my attention for my latest oil pastel painting.
During my years of business travels I spent a lot of time in the Carolina’s and always loved the scenery. I hope you enjoy this quiet lake view from South Carolina.

So delicate and gorgeous at the same time!
Hi Mamie, thank you so much for your wonderful comments!
A sweet calm. In my boat, with my camera, waiting for that perfect shot of a bird catching a fish, the gentle water against the hull. I can hear thunder in the distance. The sky is breathtaking. I love the water. So peaceful, beautiful! ~Scott
Hi Scott – so generous in your comments! Thank you so much – your description is what you typically find on this lake in South Carolina, lazy fishing and sweet quiet. Wonderful way to spend a day of R&R. Thanks! Mary
Beautiful painting !
This is also one, where you can feel the silent.
Hi Petronette, thank you for your comments. Don’t you love places that give you the atmosphere of beautiful silence ~ it’s what drew me to paint this scene.
Amazing! Longing to see it in real!
Following you! 🙂

Hi and that’s very cool!! Thanks, I love reading your comment.
This so beautiful. Reminds me of some of the paintings that show beautiful soft skies.
Hi Emily, thank you. There was a storm coming in during sunset and the atmosphere was soft with color – the oil pastels were blended to keep that feel. As Poppy said, it’s so relaxing ~
Quite wonderful Mary!
Thank you Elena – appreciate it!!
What a soft unwinding view Mary … if you were on business this sort of view must surely have enabled you to relax down. Very Easily .
Hi Poppy, thanks! Yes, can you imagine such a place – North and South Carolina States have wonderful little spots like this. You’re are so right you do relax ~

Hi Violet, thank you so much for your lovely comment!!
My daughter just mentioned earlier this week that she loved that area…especially around Asheville…and was considering a move there. So, I especially like seeing this through your eyes today. Glad to see a lakeview. Great colors in your painting!
Hi Cyndi, thanks so much!! I love Asheville, one of my very favorite places in NC – a real artist community. It’s a place I visited several times and loved the quaintness of the town and scenery is the best! Your daughter won’t be disappointed if she relocates there.
