Happy Halloween! Despite the day and that I’m about to get lots of little ones knocking on the door, I can’t forget about Thursday Drawings. Where does the time go?
Here is today’s 1/2 hour progress on Water Veil, up to #9 – I’m quite slow on this piece. Worked on finishing up the right-side of the drawing today. Part has water running over it and the rest is wet rocks and some weeds sticking up here and there. You may not get a feel for what’s going on in the drawing, but trust me at some point it will all come together and there’ll be ah moment, now I get it. Using 4H, 2H, HB, B and 3B in one area. Sorry about the blue cast to the photo, the sun is going down and I had a few too many shadows to contend with, but I think you get the idea.
Have a good evening, thanks for looking ~
Reference image was from Craig Johnson, a wonderful photographer from pmp.
Very good, so I missed a couple of post, but I love what I am looking at, lots of texture love it!
So nice to see you Doris, thanks very much. I think I have a long ways to go on this drawing, it’s taking me to places that’s exciting.
hey amiga
i’m in town for a night at the hostal to work on internet, though it’s going slow. i think the windows is updating a vast amt – something has the system crawling… i’m delighted to see this and hope that a restart is going to help me get to the others… one more week and i should be home on the river, but alas, i ‘fired’ the last internet guy, and my other option is very slow as well. sigh. one day i’ll be in the fast lane – or not…
have been painting a lot, but i do wish there were more options for internet…
thanks for staying true to this timeout.. you’re inspiring so many people!!!! speaking of, i’ve not started w/tonight’s timeout.. the jpgs are ready but i dread trying to get the computer to jump over the hurdles of writing that post! (can a turtle jump over a hurdle?)

This is a great surprise Lisa and so happy to hear from you despite your internet connection problems. Who ever heard of having to go the hospital for the internet, I’m laughing at the sound of it but definitely not your situation. Has to be very frustrating, perhaps a little freeing at the same time? Glad to hear you’re painting – maybe this time gives you the benefit of letting your creativity go wild. Wonderful comments and coming from the Master Artist I can’t tell you how appreciative I am to receive them. The drawing is coming along, slow but steady – maybe by end of November it will be finished, lol in my dreams. Take care and best wishes as you navigate access to the rest of the world.
Woow… you must be such a patient person, Mary! 😀
Can’t wait to see more!! xx
Thanks Cha – not so much patient as just totally relaxed when drawing. I really slow down and just enjoy the experience.
I’m very much looking forward to more!
Thanks Elena – I can tell this one is going to take a bit of time.
I like the hazy look, Annie
Thanks Annie – hopefully I’ll be able to capture the illusion of water flowing by the time this piece is done.
It is grand watching this unfold like a time lapse sequence. A splendid discipline with a grand result in the offing.
Thanks Craig! I am really loving working from your photograph – it’s a wonderful piece to get lost in. Very satisfying work.
Wow! Mary beginning to take shape – looking good. Thoroughly enjoying this.
Hi Don, thanks a lot – I have a feeling this one is going to take some time going at it 1/2 hour per session. I like how it is shaping up so far. Thanks again!
