I’m happy to report that Winter at the Moors, II was just awarded first place for a November monthly challenge at pmp (Paint-My-Photo). The goal of the challenge was to paint a White Christmas Challenge based on a reference image from one of the photographers.
I was thrilled to learn the news. In my case I used a photograph taken by Elaine Cross of a dusk winter scene she took while at the Moors in the UK. It was a fabulously cold and snowy scene. The oil pastels were a perfect medium for this scene – I posted the painting here before, here it is if you haven’t seen it.
I been gone for a several days, celebrating Thanksgiving holiday and taking a small break from my blog. I’m back and have missed reading everyone’s posts – I’ll be catching up over the next few days.
Thank you to all my blogging friends – I have much to be grateful for. My thoughts are with you as we enter into the holiday season, however you celebrate – best wishes to you and yours. Mary

Thanks Leslie – it’s like sea foam, sand and the sky. The white colors become something totally different and yet they speak “white” to us. Appreciate your comment!
Congratulations, Mary!!! You totally deserved it! 🙂
Thanks Francesca for your lovely words – always appreciate it!
with a bright blue colander in the window, and a hole cut in the bottom of that colander, and a white usb stick poking thru that hole, i am connecting to a cell phone tower about 5 kilometers away! without the colander, i would not have been able to view the beautiful image!!!!
congratulations! you are so talented and so very deserving of this honor!

Are you serious, lol, that is some serious apparatus that you have to work with to use the internet. Unbelievable – you should write a book! Thank you Z for your never-ending support and encouragement, means a lot coming from you! Have a great evening.

🙂
Ohhh love this!!
I so understand you, Mary! I have so many things to do lately that I can’t paint as much as I want to (Ahhh I hate that). And of course, when I post my drawings and paintings, I don’t always have the time to answer all the comments and visit my friends’ blogs… Please we want longer days!! lol
Hope you had a fantastic Thanksgiving.
We did, thanks Cha – and you? Hope it was all good eats and company. I’m learning how to bake bread, five loaves – the jury is still out. The last one, was better than the others – but a long ways to go. Thanks very much for your beautiful comment!
No, I didn’t. We don’t celebrate Thanksgiving in France. But food is really important here too.
Hmmm bread!! 😀 I’m trying to eat less bread but it’s really hard. lol
My sister used to live in Paris, was so much fun when we visited her. Cha – listen I hear you about the bread, butter (can’t forget that) and calories, that’s why I’ll eat a piece and then pass on the rest. But you live in an area of serious baguettes, it would be very hard for me to resist the smell. Have a wonderful evening!
A great light in this painting:)
Thank you very much for your nice comment!
