Pears are interesting subjects to paint, so when I have an opportunity I try not to pass it up. This painting was composed from several images from pmp that I thought would make for an interesting combination.
This oil pastel painting Trio Pears (5×7) was painted on Mi-Teintes black tinted pastel paper using mostly Senneliers and Holbein oil pastels. Once again black paper was choosen as the surface giving the piece a wonderful dark undertone allowing the rich and vibrant oil pastel colors to standout.
Hope you had a wonderful weekend, we were at 82 degrees on Saturday and today 26 degree with snow, sleet and ice – my beautifully opened daffodils are sleeping on the ground (so sad, they just opened late Saturday afternoon).

Thanks so much Poppy, much appreciated. Ah yes, the contrasting weather is unreal in TX – actually record breaking this year. Yesterday and today in the teens (frozen pipes) by Friday we’ll be back in the 70’s?! All our plants are affected now – hopefully they’ll all come back stronger than ever.

I like these dark background ones. The pears are luscious, especially the reddish orange ones paired together. Sorry to hear about those daffodils. They are emulating how many of us feel up here here as these snows and cold spells keep coming.

Thanks Jackie! Well more bad news on the flower front, with 15 degrees yesterday and 25 today I just noticed that all my rose bushes had fresh leaves that are all now brown and limp – so sad. We’ll be out this weekend to survey the damage, temps will be back up to 70’s – weird, right?
Indeed! Very weird! I hope things stabilize ASAP so the plants have a chance to recover.

Hi Brenda, thank you. I took a photograph of the painting, actually about 20 photographs – always takes me a while to get the right lighting in the room and angle.
I don’t do very well photographing mine. I guess I need more practice. 🙂
