Pears are interesting subjects to paint, so when I have an opportunity I try not to pass it up. This painting was composed from several images from pmp that I thought would make for an interesting combination.
This oil pastel painting Trio Pears (5×7) was painted on Mi-Teintes black tinted pastel paper using mostly Senneliers and Holbein oil pastels. Once again black paper was choosen as the surface giving the piece a wonderful dark undertone allowing the rich and vibrant oil pastel colors to standout.
Hope you had a wonderful weekend, we were at 82 degrees on Saturday and today 26 degree with snow, sleet and ice – my beautifully opened daffodils are sleeping on the ground (so sad, they just opened late Saturday afternoon).
SUPER!
Thank you so much, really appreciate it!
Love your pear colors! They seem to be in communion with one another-beautiful!
Thank you Elena! – the black pastel paper really added to the darker tone w/the overall colors, I like the effect.
Beautiful! I feel as though you have just painted the pears in my fruit bowl.
Thanks so much – appreciate it!!
A lovely composition Mary . Those blushing pears are very appealing in more ways than one 😉
Your contrasting weather must be difficult to cope with ! Poor daffs 😦
Thanks so much Poppy, much appreciated. Ah yes, the contrasting weather is unreal in TX – actually record breaking this year. Yesterday and today in the teens (frozen pipes) by Friday we’ll be back in the 70’s?! All our plants are affected now – hopefully they’ll all come back stronger than ever.
Lovely composition. I’m not muc of a fruit person but I do love your pear pieces.
Thanks Mona. The still life’s help me work on edges – although if you saw the lemons I’m painting now, well that’s another whole story!
I like these dark background ones. The pears are luscious, especially the reddish orange ones paired together. Sorry to hear about those daffodils. They are emulating how many of us feel up here here as these snows and cold spells keep coming.
Thanks Leslie for your nice comments! Yesterday and today we woke up to temps in the teens – the end to our newly opened flowers and beautiful new leaves on all the rose bushes.
Wonderful painting! I’m so sorry about the daffodils. I think the weather has gone mad! 😦
Thanks Jackie! Well more bad news on the flower front, with 15 degrees yesterday and 25 today I just noticed that all my rose bushes had fresh leaves that are all now brown and limp – so sad. We’ll be out this weekend to survey the damage, temps will be back up to 70’s – weird, right?
Indeed! Very weird! I hope things stabilize ASAP so the plants have a chance to recover.
gorgeous combination!
Thanks Patricia!!
I’m so sorry for your daffodils…but I love your pears!
Thank you so much Ogee!!
Awww, that’s a lovely trio, Mary!! 🙂 xx
Thanks Marina! Hope you have a lovely week ~
This is so beautiful. Did you take a photo of it or scan it?
Hi Brenda, thank you. I took a photograph of the painting, actually about 20 photographs – always takes me a while to get the right lighting in the room and angle.
I don’t do very well photographing mine. I guess I need more practice. 🙂
Even though the image is not showing on this page, it does when you click on it.
As you have painted corellas, and beautifully, I can only say you’ve depicted my favourite fruit in about my favourite way!
Thank you M.R. I made the mistake of trying to edit the photograph and then completely wiped it out and had to start over with posting the photograph with the post – ah technology. Thanks very much for your nice comments – I love pears, every time I see them more colors are revealed. With their funny shapes a great fruit to paint.
I’ll pop over, then … 😉
