Finding my bearings again, this oil pastel (12×12) was painted on Mi-Teintes cream tinted pastel paper. I was inspired by a reference image from Jim Swanson, of pmp.
Occasionally I do go back into a painting to work on an area or two; I do see one thing that is standing out in Sunday Stroll. I won’t change what I’ve posted here as tends to disrupt search engines, but will post updated paintings in my header tabs under landscapes or seascapes.
Have a wonderful weekend, gardening is at the top of my list of things to do. Thanks for stopping by . . .
Beautiful, colours.
Thank you Benjamin, appreciate your comment. Very nice to see you ~
Must say that you are very talented! Post bigger pictures. Wan´t to view the paintings.
Thank you Katarina for your kind comments, nice to meet you! By clicking onto the photograph the picture enlarges – hope that helps. Thanks again!
Saw that 🙂 Well. Have a slow internet so thats why. Soon I´ll be back in Sweden and will have time to view and click more.
Thanks Katarina – safe travels.
Amazing that you can capture something like this so beautifully. The colours are fabulous yet it’s so peaceful. 🙂
Really appreciate your comments Jo – we all need a quiet place like this every now and then. Thanks so much!
That is so lovely!
Hi Lady! Thanks very much!
I love the colors and the layers. So lovely!
Thank you Elisa for your nice comment!
Wonderful work Mary. Glad you are finding your stride again. It feels great when that happens, doesn’t it? I love this piece, as I do all your work. I can feel the warm breezes and smell nature. Have a lovely week. xo
Hi Rhonda, thanks so much for your nice comment. I agree with you, that getting back into the grove is great for the creative juices.
Gentle and soft are your brush strokes, so are your colors.Layers and layers of those colors give perfect depth to the painting where shadows and highligths play up the beautiful landscape. It’s rich but light at the same time. You captured the blowing wind beautifuly with your strokes which leaves me feeling airy and happy and with that wind beneath my wings I could just fly over your wonderful pastel landscape! Thank you for the joyful Sunday Stroll!
Hi Eva, such beautiful feedback I felt like I was on that Sunday Stroll right along with you – wonderful visual. You are so right about the layers, that is the magic about oil pastels – the more you build thin layers, the greater interest and dynamics develop. After stepping back, a few minor tweaks are speaking to me. I really appreciate that you took time to comment, thank you so much. Hope you enjoyed your Sunday!
Yes I had a wonderful Sunday, hope you had one too!!! What is beautiful about painting is that is so enjoyable to go through all the stages building up all the layers, stepping back and seeing the progress and witness the evolution of a master piece created by yourself. It makes you proud of your accomplishment. I remember from art school the teacher always said:”step back and feel and when is done you will know because you will feel it”. Painting or any kind of art creation is about emotions, feelings and if you can put that one up on your canvass, people will feel you back and that is a beatiful thing! You have a wonderful gift of feeling and translating it onto your canvass and that is priceless. Thanks for sharing your joy of art with all of us! Wish you a great week!-Eva:)
Perfect Eva, I couldn’t have written it any better. You are so right, “feeling it” is exactly what my artist friend and I always talk about – it’s that feeling you get, hard to describe but tried in a post I did a year or so ago on feeling a runners high when creating. https://oilpastelsbymary.com/2013/01/31/ever-feel-runners-high-when-youre-creating/ Hope you enjoy it, based on your creations I know you experience this phenomena and that is the greatest gift we can give to others, as you said “people will feel you back and that is a beautiful thing!”
We all need beautiful things around us, and your paintings are one of those!
Love the softness on the one side. Lovely Mary. Good feeling isn’t it?
Thank you Leslie for your thoughtful comment – yes it is a good feeling. So glad you enjoyed the piece.
A feast of harmonious color!
Good eye – thanks Elena!
Enjoy your gardening and the garden.
Thanks going out to work in just a few minutes – have a nice weekend!
I love this one! I can almost feel the wind in the trees. 🙂
Thanks Dorann, one of those warm days right? Sun, wind and the smell of weeds (lol, whoever thought they could smell so good!).
Ah, Mary this is beautiful! Perfect for a Sunday promenade! Happy weekend! 🙂 xx
Thank you Marina for your comments – hope you have a wonderful Sunday!
🙂
Wonderful work! Have a great weekend. 🙂
Thanks Jackie! Have a wonderful weekend too ~
Wonderful pastel, Mary. I really like the values you have going in this. I’m struggling with values right now in my work, so I’m really conscious of them in other’s work. Love the greens, so deep.
Hi Kerry, thanks so much and you’re right those values make all the difference in getting depth – I’m also working on them. Appreciate your feedback, I have two areas to address and will post it to the landscape gallery. Have a great weekend!
You are on your game.
Thanks CJ! Your support and encouragement mean the world to me – thank you!
