Thursday already? Where has the time gone ~
Long silk strands of sea-foam that drapes over and down the incoming wave have started to be developed in this graphite drawing (6×9). Working the values ranges properly will be critical if I expect to get the kind of water-effects I’m looking for with this seascape. Graphite will be the primary medium in this pencil drawing – 2H, HB, B were used today.
Thanks for checking in ~

I love watching your work progress and come to life, Mary. Your work is phenomenal. Thank you so much for sharing the process. 🙂
Thank you very much Elizabeth for your comments and compliment – you know how to start my day out just right. Thanks and have a wonderful weekend.
Hi Mary! More loveliness to enjoy…I am grateful for that!
Hi Elisa, great to see you – thank you! Hope you have a lovely weekend ~
Lovely, Mary! In your header are waves, but yours seem more like smooth silk – beautiful. Have a great weekend!
Thank you so much Ann-Christine! I’m looking to achieve the elegance of a bulging wave – lets see if it works out. Have a lovely weekend.
It goes quickly isn’t it? It is beautiful!!!
Yes, Maria this piece I think is moving along nicely – I’m seeing the patterns faster or maybe I should say more clearly. Thanks very much.
FASCINATING, these progressive paintings, Mary ! I never realized how layers play so important a part in the production of an artwork. This one’s looking as good as all the others (of course !). 🙂
Hi M.R., exactly – you nailed it! The building those beautiful layers is the magic in bringing the richness to a seascape drawing. Glad you are enjoying the process.
Without exception, m’dear. 🙂
Oh my, this is getting really beautiful Mary! You have an amazing talent to interpret water, this one is shaping up to be an other master piece, hardly can wait for your next post on the progress!
Thank you Eva, it’s been a great discovery to be able to draw rich and full-body looking water. Appreciate your encouragement on these pieces – perhaps two maybe three sessions this will be completed. Can’t wait to work on it again.
Gorgeous painting!
Thank you Ladyfi – have a lovely weekend.
very poetic. yes, time is zipping by way too fast. i worked last night for a few hours on photos, began this morning and got distracted by visits with sisters and bro in law and telephone calls.. and now i am at the other end of the state after watching a futbol game and then going to dinner… i am much more productive in ecuador!
as always, yours will be stunning and an inspiration to all.
lisa
Hi Lisa, so busy – love reading about your travels and all your fun visits! Thanks very much, I’m already feeling this drawing. Your time in the States is going fast, hope you are having enough quiet and just be in the moment before you leave.
You can do it, Mary, and you will. It’s already very fine…
Thank you John, stepping back and letting the drawing set a while (only draw on Thursdays) lets it talk to me – kooky, maybe but doing will allow the patterns come forward. Have a lovely weekend.
Where DOES the time go??? It’s a little unsettling at times. Loving your progress Mary. It’s going to be a wonderful wave!
Thanks Rhonda! Have a great weekend ~
Beautiful, Mary.
Thank you Sharon!
