Yesterday we took a trip down to Ennis, TX to see the annual Spring blossoms of Bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrushes ~ everywhere you looked there was a spectacular showing of gorgeous flowers. Here are a few shots for you to enjoy!
Please feel free to use these photographs as inspiration for drawings or paintings.
Absolutely beautiful!
Thanks Patrick was a beautiful trip, an amazing show this year of wildflowers.
Wow what a beautiful sight! I would love to come across something like that!
Hi Elizabeth, thanks very much – you’d so enjoy all the beautiful scenes. Your lens would capture some pretty amazing shots!!
Just gorgeous!
Thank you Brenda!!
What beautiful wildflowers, Mary! I’ve never seen anything like that before. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Carol – it was well worth the trip down there, the fields were beautiful. A painters and photographs dream in landscape scenery.
What a delightful landscape Mary! I so regret not being able to paint. Look forward to seeing your interpretation 🙂
Thanks Madhu and hopefully I’ll be able to paint from one of the many photographs taken of the area. Was a wonderful trip to see these special wild flowers.
very beautiful!
Thanks so much Dsaquarelles!
Look like paintings waiting to happen! Beautiful!
Thanks so much Catherine – oh yes and can’t wait. Have a few things happening around here, so the painting is on the back burner, but soon enough I’m hoping to break out the canvas. I’ve got some real awesome shots that I’ll try to post – hope you’ll be able to use one or two for inspiration for a future one of your fantastic paintings.
Well where I live we don’t have bluebonnets or Indian Paintbrush. Gorgeous flowers. I’m hoping we’ll see you painting these. 😊
Glad you enjoyed them Joanna we – are really lucky to have such beautiful landscapes in the Spring. I’m hoping to paint one or two during the Summer. Thanks and perhaps you might paint one too?
Oh, I can see you’re taking big breaths of beautiful color for your next paintings!!!!! 🙂
Happy weekend, my dear friend – enjoy!! xx
Hi Marina, thanks so much for your lovely comment – really happy that you enjoyed this burst of prettiness in our Texas landscapes. It was a wonderful place to visit. Hoping to paint from one of the photographs I took later in the summer. Hope you are well and looking forward to seeing what you have been up to. Happy Wednesday my friend!!
A stunning display for sure Mary! What a day you must have had. 🙂
Thanks Dorann – was truly a perfect day for seeing the roadside displays of brilliant color.
These are great photos, Mary! Thank you for sharing! Our Creator arranges color so perfectly.. those blues and oranges.. wow. God bless, Rose
Thanks Rose and so glad that you enjoyed the beautiful flowers. Yes, imagine blues and oranges – awesome!
A wonderful Springtime flower show – such lovely descriptive flower names too Mary ! I can well imagine you were pleased to have missed the 100.000 visitors 😉
Happy Weekend to you x
Hi Poppy, aren’t these beauties? We are very lucky here in TX to have such an abundance of Spring color just waiting in fields and along roadways to be discovered. It’s against the law here in TX to pick them. Many of the back roads were narrow and it would have made for an interesting time with all the visitors, we were smart to go when we did. Plus we’re having heavy rain storms and I expect many of the blossoms are probably gone. Hope you are well and looking forward to catching up with your blog.
Oh Mary, this is such a treat. I was in TX a few wks ago, and actively looked for the bluebonnets, but only saw a few here and there. This is what my mother, a Texan, always talked about, so seeing this today is wonderful. I can imagine you will create some beautiful paintings from this.
Hi Jet, thanks so much – we were lucky to see a brilliant display all along the roadway. Too bad that you missed the flowers, they came out late last week with gusto and not sure how they are doing with all the heavy rains we’ve had. I’m hoping that when things calm down over the summer I’ll try my hand at a few of these shots – about 60 in all and many make great scenes for paintings.
Wow! Our blooms are just getting going up here……love the colours!
Thanks A! – aren’t they pretty!?
A sight for sore eyes, indeed! Thank you, Mary.
Hope that they brighten your day Cynthia ~
Thank you, Mary! The last 2 shots would be amazing for a fabric print!
Awesome Resa – your artists eye sees what is never the obvious (at least to me). Love it!! Have a wonderful weekend.
You have a great one, too!
Gorgeous flowers! Have a great weekend. 🙂
Thank you Jackie!! Hope you have a lovely weekend too!
Such a wonderful spectacle, Mary. Your photos are gorgeous and would make very nice paintings. Happy weekend to you. 🙂
Hi Sylvia, thanks – aren’t those flowers gorgeous!! Hope to paint several scenes from the photographs, many to choose from – definitely a great source of inspiration.
Gorgeous! What a treat to see so many flowers. The trip must have been good for the soul.
Thank you Ruth – it was such a beautiful day. And you are so right, the explosion of color against the green grasses and somewhat cloudy, blue sky was wonderful.
So beautiful dear Mary, I wanted to jump there… Thank you, have a nice weekend, Love, nia
So good to see you Nia – glad you enjoyed the photographs! Hope you have a lovely weekend too!
Beautiful!
Thanks Nicodemas!
Mary you’re very generous! I wish I had time to try to paint these wonderful fields of flowers.cc
Thanks Cindy – perhaps one day you’ll be able to take some time to paint one of these scenes.
Beautiful, Mary! I heard about the bluebonnets in Ennis, haven’t seen photos of this beautiful place. Thank you so much for sharing with us! I’m sure your trip was fabulous. 🙂
Thanks Amy – I was able to get some really gorgeous photographs that I can’t wait to try out as paintings. We found some beautiful little spots. Glad we went yesterday because they are having their annual Festival this weekend (100,000 people), would be a bit too crowded for us.
They are gorgeous and so colorful – I am sure many will find them as great source of inspiration 🙂
Thanks so much Indah, I’m so glad you enjoyed the photographs. The colors were so awesome and especially being able to walk among all the flowers.
Got some inspiration! Thank you Mary
Awesome Susan!! Can’t wait to see what you paint ~
Gorgeous! Will you be painting some of these scenes yourself?
Glad you enjoyed the photographs Hien. Most definitely – we took about 60+ photographs and some of them are amazing, with 4 or 5 different paintings coming out of just one shot. Very cool and thanks for asking. Might be a while, as we have some projects we are finishing up around here.
Beautiful shots, Mary! I love the colors.
Thanks Jill – the colors were spectacular!!
Such beauty, Mary…and I bet it was breathtaking to actually BE there!!
Oh yes Cynthia and I thought about you while looking out over all the flowers. You would have just loved the views. Several shots looked like Monet had painted them – perhaps there will be a painting or two that will come from the photograph.
Oh, I do hope so!
Stay tuned!!
Absolutely gorgeous! 🙂
Thanks very much – hope there is something here that you can use to draw!
Oh, most definitely, Thank You! 🙂 I have always been mesmerized by the bluebonnet fields!!!
Great, can’t wait to see what you do!
Thanks again Mary for letting me use your photos! 🙂 ❤
