Her eyes, deep sad pools, tugged at my heart and with her tilted head she spoke ~ by Mary
Seal Pup, an acrylic painting (9×12), was painted on canvas paper using mainly Liquitex and Golden brand acrylics. Who would have thought I’d be painting a Seal, it’s so completely different from my norm, but originally this painting was created for a mother’s/children’s benefit auction. It was fun piece to try and capture this little one. I fell in love with this Seal, she was sweet as could be.

What a delightful piece! love it! Rita
A cute and fun piece to do – loved watching this little guy develop before my eyes.
I bet this fetched a nice price at the auction. 🙂
Hi Ruth, thanks ~ unfortunately this wasn’t the painting they selected. I’ll be posting the one that got into the auction shortly. But I love your comment – I only wish.
I cannot remotely imagine being able to paint something with such expression. Applause and thank you for sharing with us.
You are very kind Judy , thank you so much. It was a neat challenge to try and capture .
So lively, Mary! The details like a beautiful close up image.
Thanks so much Amy- I really appreciate it.
She’s beautiful! Lovely!

Hi Robert, thanks so much for your kind comment! I really appreciate it ~
Aw…he’s adorable, Mary! ❤
Thank so much Jill – I always appreciate it. I’m so glad you liked the Seal – a refreshing change in subjects.
That has to be enlarged to be sure it is not a photograph 🙂
I’m smiling here in Texas, Derrick. Thanks so much – looking forward to seeing how your gardens have fared as we move into the Fall months.
🙂
This painting tugs at my heart strings; so adorable. It’s also lovely that you feel confident to paint something a little different from your usual subjects.
It’s good to see you Gallivanta – thank you, I enjoyed reading your response to the painting. Seals are pretty cool sea creatures – I don’t know if I’m drawn more to their faces of their eyes.
Nice painting, I like the cool blue colours, also the seal looks so rounded.
Hi Shawn, thanks very much for your read on the painting – appreciate your feedback on the specifics.
Beautiful painting Mary. I agree they have such soulful eyes 🙂 Marion
Hi marion , thank you – it means a lot. Their eyes are soulful.
Oh Mary this seal pup is adorable.
Hi Susan, thanks so much – I love your reaction to the painting. When we first moved to Maine , we lived by the ocean and I remember there were seals always playing in the water slapping their fins. Seals are a gift from the sea.
Ohh, your special words that open this post are outdone only by the emotion I feel looking at your painting. This may not be your usual genre, but I would love to see more animals. Mary, you capture heart and soul, within a very well executed work of art!
Wow and thank you Resa for reading the post just as I intended and for your special comment. You know how to make my day all the more brighter. It was a good exercise to challenge myself with. There is another painting of this nature coming up in the next few days – stay tuned.
YAY!!!
What a beautiful painting.

Oh…she is beautiful!
Glad you liked her Dorann! Thank you so much my friend. Hope you are well and didn’t suffer any damage with Florence and the tremendous amounts of rain that came your way.
All’s well here Mary…and thanks for asking.
I have fallen in love with her! She is in my heart forever. Thank you, Mary.
Oh my Patricia, what a beautiful thing to write ~ so glad you enjoyed this painting. Loved your response. Hope you are well.
